The seism on Wall Street has surprised the world Establishment.
At the summits of power, panic and alarmist declarations dominate.
Everyone is absorbing an event which could be the beginning of a change
of epoch. The comparison with the fall of the Berlin Wall gives some
indication of this historical dimension.
The present crisis started to incubate
in June 2007, with the collapse of the insurance funds managed by Bear
Stearns, and demonstrated its force with the nationalization of the
British bank Northern Rock. From this gestation we moved on to events
the profundity of which is obvious to everyone.

El IIIF ha firmado un contrato con la Fundación Neerlandesa de
Investigación y Educación en Socialismo Científico (SOWS, por sus
siglas en neerlandés). La SOWS ha decidido apoyar las actividades
políticas y educativas celebradas en el Instituto. Tales actividades
incluyen escuelas y seminarios de jóvenes, mujeres, Oriente Medio,
LGBTT y cambio climático, además de las publicaciones del IIIF. A
cambio, el IIIF solicita a quienes lo apoyan que se conviertan en
donantes de la SOWS. La SOWS utilizará estos fondos exclusivamente para
el IIIF pero decidirá anualmente cuáles actividades del IIIF recibirán
esa ayuda.
Exhortamos a nuestros lectores a considerar testamentos y otros
donaciones. Los donativos regulares sugeridos por los amigos del IIIF
son 25, 50 y 100 euros, pero cualquier cantidad será, por supuesto,
agradecida.

Luego de una exitosa serie inaugural de seminarios en 2007/2008, Regresos del Marxismo continuará a partir de octubre 2008. Los temas en la conferencia de este año incluyen: política latinoamericana contemporánea; la política de la 'gentrification'; lectura de capital, feminismo radical, marxismo, filosofía y más.
En años recientes se ha visto un renovado interés en el marxismo alrededor del mundo. Una nueva generación está descubriendo la fertilidad de muchas de las tradiciones del marxismo para entender y tratar de cambiar al mundo. Este seminario busca reunir académicos, escritores y activistas de diferentes campos para discutir la relevancia de las ideas marxistas en los debates contemporáneos.

A preliminary remark
The term scientific socialism did get a negative connotation due to the usages of this term in the Stalinist tradition for a system of mental rules that claimed to cover all human experiences, investigations and advancements.
As a result of this mechanical so-called dialectic materialism (Diamat), the revolutionary left turned away from the issue, developed a sometimes more, sometimes less adequate critique but did not counter it with a full answer to the real underlaying question of methodology.
This lack of a fundamental understanding of the vast problem area of how we actually have to face, analyse and henceforward develop a revolutionary praxis remains a fundamental obstacle in the development of contemporary revolutionary theory.
