Vision: The IIRE’s vision is to become a dynamic and visible
centre of research and education, a meeting place for activists and scholars,
united in a common belief in a world freed from forms of exploitation and
oppression.
Mission: The
IIRE was founded as an international institute where activists, coming from the
five continents and hailing from different traditions, could spend long periods
together studying, revisiting the history in order to reflect on their own
experiences and the lessons to be drawn from them. Its core activity is the
organisation and hosting of educational sessions and seminars training
activists from various movements. The IIRE is visible through public events and
lectures, going in depth with issues that challenge the progressive forces.
IIRE publications, in several languages, aim at giving a better understanding
of important contemporary and theoretical questions. The IIRE aims at using the
new possibilities given by the ICT as tools to connect with activists around
the globe, and make its service available for a wider audience. The IIRE
library and website serve as an archive for the development of critical,
emancipatory thought.
