Vacancy Announcement: Marketing Assistant (part time) PDF Print E-mail

The Marketing Assistant is mainly responsible for the overall planning and implementation of the IIRE's marketing work in the field of letting meeting and conference facilities. This work is done in close collaboration with the Financial and Administrative Manager. The position vacancy is dependent on financial approval by the IIRE Board.

 

The International Institute for Research and Education (IIRE) was founded as an international institute where activists, coming from the five continents and hailing from different traditions, could spend long periods together studying, revisiting history in order to reflect on their own experiences and the lessons to be drawn from them. Its core activity is the organisation and hosting of educational sessions and seminars training activists from various movements. The IIRE is visible through public events and lectures, going in depth with issues that challenge the progressive forces. IIRE publications, in several languages, aim at giving a better understanding of important contemporary and theoretical questions. A critical source of income for the IIRE is the letting of modern and well equipped meeting rooms in Amsterdam.

  

The Marketing Assistant reports to the Executive co-Directors.

 

Main duties:

 

         Overall management of the marketing of IIRE conference facilities in collaboration with the Financial and Administrative Manager

         Initially, the holder is expected to do telemarketing, update the website and take upon themselves similar tasks

         Formulating, implementing and follow up on marketing strategies

         Setting and managing commercial priorities

         Reviewing and evaluating hitherto commercial activities

         Preparing regular reports for the Executive co-Directors and presenting them for strategic choices

 

Essential requirements:

 

         Commitment to the IIRE Vision

         Knowledge and experience with commercial marketing strategies

         Ability to work independently and plan own working hours

         Good organisation and management skills

         Strong administrative and budgetary skills

         Strong networking skills

         Ability to work in a team, and to work under pressure of meeting deadlines

         Good computer skills (familiarity with spreadsheet applications (as Excel or OpenOffice))

         Fluency in Dutch and English

 

Further advantages:

 

         Degree in Business Administration or similar

         Experience with CRM systems

         Experience with web design (CMS)

 

Terms and conditions:

 

The position is part time, 16 – 24 hours per week, for a 6 months period, with possibility of extension and increase of hours if sufficient income is generated. The position is to be filled by 1st October 2008 or as soon as possible. The IIRE strives for equal salary of all its employees.
